Is it possible to read mail from gmail or yahoo through Mircrosoft Outlook?

For gmail it is entirely possible. All you have to do is enable pop forwarding on your gmail account, and then configure outlook for it. Information on both of this can be found here

Yahoo used to have free mail forwarding (now you have to pay for it). If you get one of the premium versions, you can have mail forwarded to an Outlook or Outlook Express client (or most other email software). See information in hyperlink below.

You do have to pay money through yahoo, but its free on gmail. Go to settings, then go to the forwarding and POP tab. then, you will find the settings for POP. there, you can get directions to configure outlook or any other POP software such as Thunderbird. not so hard.

gmail swap
gmail seems to still allow free smtp client access, but Yahoo does not unless you subscribe to it. Many companies are dropping this service due to the cost of securing smtp receiving against spam.
