How to paste formatted text from gmail?

So i want to copy formatted text from gmail, but when I try pasting it in a word document it comes out unformatted. Is their an option in paste special in word, or is their a copy special option in gmail? How else can I get formatted text from gmail to a document? (btw i have word 2003)

    One you have selected the text and copied it, goto word and then click on the Edit menu and Select “Paste Special”
    That shuld do it
