I think that all Unions, straight/gay, should be equal. I think our government should have no say on marriage. To me, all the government should recognize is civil unions, straight or ***. Filing taxes together. That’s all it should be about. No judgment on who the spouse is. as long as its between two adults, and is consenting.

totally agree, in Arkansas they just passed a law that says you cant adopt children if you live with someone who is not your spouse.

this makes no sense at all because you can still adopt if you are single. o.O

I believe that Civil Unions are a huge step for civil rights against gays, but like you said, it isn’t the same as Marriage. Until it is called marriage, it’s not over yet.

    PS. I’m Bisexual :)

I’m Canadian, and since the middle of 2005 *** marriage has been legal everywhere in Canada. I think that America should do the same.

Iowa is more progressive than everyone thinks, and frankly I’m sick of the “hick” stereotype. I couldn’t be more proud to be from Iowa, and feel that we are more educated, civilized, and open-minded than 95% of the rest of the country! GO IOWA!

I’m ashamed that you are an Iowan. True Iowans respect our Constitutional principles – that would include, among other things, equal protection under the law. All men are created equal… and nothing trumps the Constitution in this nation!

Don’t know if my reply worked, so here goes again: Why I don’t respect your unfounded beliefs, search for “sam harris idea city” on youtube. Example of human suffering = Crusades, modern day example = pope telling people not to use condoms, resulting in millions of painful, certain deaths. Homosexuality is an abomination according to your book, and there is no arguing that, period.

    the2ndwhitekid: it’s a valid theory…but not really

most kids know what marriage is when they get to school
parents educate their children on that…

and we have hormones…knowing that being *** is ok won’t suppress our hormones and create a fear of the opposite ***. That’s ridiculous.

If anything it will help children by educating them that it is ok to be *** and stop some of the atrocious bullying that *** kids endure.

ps: go Vermont for the recent legalization. Down with prop 8!

dude, that right there is hypocritical. “the self-absorbed intolerant ******* who runs around screaming their opinions without possibly thinking they might be offensive”.

yeah you were offensive to him buddy. just another liberal blaming the country for everything bad that ever happens.

I beleive its a bad decision because the problem is that when u legalize *** marriage when your kids learn the definition of marriage they will learn its between man and women along with people of the same ***. So instead of reaching out the kids will just stick with their best buddies and soon we’ll b in a bit of a social disaster because they were be no real able couples to keep our population going.

I’d say you’re not entitled to your own facts, and yes it is. I don’t care that you’re not as bigoted as the rest of the lot – congrats on that, but… your beliefs are not to be respected and “christ”ianity causes so much human suffering in this world that there is really no excuse. Also, life if short – stop wasting it on religion. I won’t be able to say “told ya so” either… because there is no afterlife! And it’s okay!

our book is not fiction… I am tired of hearing that… I am also tired of people thinking all christians are againist *** marriage… I personally am a bisexual christian… and what might you say to that???

what you are baisicaly saying is that blacks and whites should still be seperated but “equal”
i am also a christian but i still think that people should be able to get married to each other weather they are *** or straight. its not your right to decide if 2 *** people are allowed to be legally married in the united states. it is there choice.
and i think that anyone who feels different can burn in hell because you are saying that they dont have the same rights
