No I mean, by default. In this video, he says that we need to manually enter it in the settings. I was wondering if you don’t have to go through all that now by just clicking the Gmail icon and boom! You are done!

This video was not too helpful. I want to have gmail on my iphone but want it password protected. The video does not address that possibility.

Exactly. On the iPhone 3G, you do not need this IMAP thing. Its so last year..

one 2.0 and 2.1 version its called “push” or whatever its under wifi in settings

  20. By dajdawgzaccount on Feb 5, 2008 | Reply

they fixed this a while ago

  21. By 95m3ltw on Feb 6, 2008 | Reply

This is old info, you do not need to do this on a 3G iPhone! If you use the gmail icon, it sets up a imap account so this video is not useful anymore

yeah? is there a difference between the IMAP and POP? =P

  23. By sabrewulf2099 on Feb 10, 2008 | Reply

I had already set my gmail account on my iphone by clicking the Gmail icon under email accounts.. IMAP seems to work just fine even though I didn’t select “Other” as the video instructed. They must have updated it.
